Are suppressors that were imported after 1968 transferable to individuals?

I ask cause Im talking to a dealer right now that has some used 9mm HK suppressors that he says are transferable.
I dont think they are but just want to clear it up.

Thanks

No NFA items imported after 1968 are transferable to individuals. They are law enforcement sales only.

So whats the chances that these HK suppressors are made here in the US of A?

Zero. All *real* HK suppressors are made in Europe, mostly by B&T. So the only way to get them is as a dealer/SOT with a love letter. Treated the same way as an imported machine gun.

It would be great is the ATF changed the import status of suppressors to a sporting use but still subject to the NFA tax & registration.

ATF cannot make the change. It's part of legislature passed by Congress. In a nutshell, Congress made it verboten for anyone but Mil/LE to import NFA... So Congress would have to reverse it with new legislation.

Thats not likely to happen unless we can come up with enough money to buy a bunch of congressman.

Old post, but no love letter is required to buy an imported silencer, nor is one required for an pre-may MG.

With all due respect, it has been my experience that a love letter is absolutely required to acquire a silencer imported after 1986. Can you describe how you have successfully done otherwise? It would be a help if there is an alternate method available to the rest of us.

The last imported silencer we transfered in (HK MP5SD suppressor) required the letter and the F3 has that cool red stamp on it.
