AOW or DD?

I was asked could I make a Thompson center Encore pistol and use a rifled 20ga barrel to make an 8" AOW. My question is would the rifled barrel make it a DD instead of an AOW?

To the best of my knowledge, to classify as an AOW it would have to be a smooth bore. The rifled barrel would put it in a DD classification. "Such term shall not include a pistol or a revolver having a rifled bore", from ATF.Gov. http://www.atf.gov/firearms/guides/i...n-nfa-aow.html
